FUSION FILM SCORING WORKSHOPS

The Fusion Film Scoring Workshops are designed for musicians and composers that are looking to enhance their knowledge and compositional skills in writing for Film as well as gain experience writing for a live ensemble. The aim of the workshops is to give the composer all the essential tools needed to create an original Film Score with seminars by industry professionals that will cover both the aesthetic and creative aspects of writing for film as well as technical aspects and score preparation.

 

The faculty will mentor and assist individually every composer in producing an original score for a live Ensemble (with or without Electronics, optional); for a short film of approximate 5 minute duration.

Overview

DAY 1

  • Welcoming and Introduction to the Fusion Film Scoring Workshops

  • Film Assignment: Projecting and assigning the short films that the participants will have to compose a score for.=

  • The Spotting Session - Creative and Technical Analysis

  • From conception to composition: Creating and Structuring a film score

DAY 2

  • Scoring for Film: Notation – Writing with timecode – Synchronisation of music and film

  • The Film Value Chain: Creative relations in the Film Making Process

DAY 3

  • Orchestration as a creative tool: Texture, Timbre and extended performance techniques 

  • Fiml score and SFX

  • Individual mentoring sessions by the faculty:  Discussion and development of ideas

DAY 4

  • Individual mentoring sessions by the faculty:  Directions for completing the score.

  • Open Discussion - Networking Event​

DAY 5

  • Individual mentoring sessions by the faculty:  Finalising the score and trouble shooting 

DAY 6

  • Rehearsal with the Ensemble

  • Individual mentoring sessions by the faculty:  Feedback and final refinements

DAY 7

  • Recording of the Film Scores at Aya Recordings
